How to deposit money in your PPF account?

Most of the people usually open a PPF (Public Provident Fund) account to get tax benefit under section 80C. But you need to deposit minimum Rs 500 in each financial year. So how will you deposit fund in your PPF account? Most of the time people think they have to visit a bank branch to deposit money, fill the pay in slip and stand in a queue. But it is not true. You can even deposit your contribution in your PPF even through online mode.
You can deposit fund online in your PPF account if you have your PPF account in any bank. For most of the banks, you can transfer money from saving account to PPF account just like any other saving account. You just need to mention account number and payee name. It is always good practice to link your PPF account with your saving account so that you can easily transfer fund from your saving account to PPF account with minimum steps and zero mistakes.

Here is an example of SBI bank fund transfer method from saving account to PPF account. You need to mention amount, purpose and select PPF account to transfer fund to PPF account.

We all are very busy with our daily works. Many time you may forget to deposit fund in your PPF account and in last month of the financial year you deposit fund to get the tax benefit. So bank also offers auto debit or ECS facility. You just need to fill an ECS form where you have to mention amount and interval for fund transferring to your PPF account.
