RuPay is India's domestic card payment scheme which was launched by National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI). Rupay makes India one of those few countries who has its own domestic card payment scheme. The word RuPay comes from two words Rupee and Payment. Now due to growing online shoppers in India and dominance of MasterCard and Visa payment schemes, it was important for NPCI to allow RuPay customers for doing online transactions.
